Resume examples by role — 8 concrete examples.

Writing a resume from scratch is hard. It's easier when you see what a strong resume actually looks like. Here are 8 resume examples for different roles — every example includes a profile summary, relevant keywords and one concrete tip for that role.

The examples are written by recruiters and cover both traditional roles (nurse, finance, teacher) and modern ones (engineer, marketer, sales). Use them as inspiration — don't copy word for word, adapt the language to your own experience.

Frequently asked questions about resume examples

What is a good resume example?
+
A good resume is concrete, quantified and tailored to the role. It has a short profile summary (3–4 lines), work experience in reverse chronological order where each role lists 2–3 results (not duties), clear education and the keywords from the job posting. Length: 1–2 pages.
What does a resume look like for someone with no experience?
+
Lead with education, then internships, summer jobs, volunteering, club roles and school projects. Say what you actually did — 'Captain of U15 team, planned travel and resolved conflicts' beats 'football'. Skills (languages, certifications, computer literacy) can fill more space than for someone with 10 years' experience.
Can I copy a resume example word for word?
+
No. The examples are there for structure and tone — don't copy phrasing verbatim. Recruiters read hundreds of resumes and spot template language instantly. Use the example as a frame and fill it with your own numbers, projects and results.
What separates a strong resume example from a mediocre one?
+
Numbers and outcomes. 'Responsible for marketing' is mediocre. 'Grew Instagram from 2,000 to 18,000 followers in 9 months through organic content' is strong. Quantify whenever you can — dollars saved, percent improved, headcount, deals, deal size.
Which resume example works for a summer job?
+
A short, honest one-page resume is enough. Highlight school, internships, any previous summer jobs (retail, lifeguard, camp counselor), driver's licence and languages. Add a short profile saying who you are and what you're looking for — e.g. 'High school senior looking for a customer-facing summer job'.
How long should a resume be?
+
1 page if you have under 10 years of experience, 2 pages if you have more. Three pages or more almost always signals you haven't edited. Recruiters scan in 7 seconds — make those seconds count.
Should I include a photo on my resume?
+
In the US and UK photos are uncommon and can introduce bias. In parts of Europe they're standard. Either include a professional headshot with a neutral background — or skip it. A selfie or vacation shot is worse than no photo.
What's the difference between a resume and a cover letter?
+
A resume shows facts — what you did, where you worked, what you can do. A cover letter shows motivation — why this role, why you. Most employers want both; roughly 70% of postings ask for a cover letter.
